The process of vacuum form moulding involves the heating of a thermoplastic sheet to the appropriate temperature. Subsequently, the heated plastic is stretched around or into a mould pattern and shaped.
Applying vacuum pressure between the mould surface and the plastic sheet ensures that the sheet is conformed to the shape of the mould. As heating of the plastic is required, vacuum forming is, therefore, a thermoforming process.
